KON
(KUNG)
Gardeopatra Quijano
Translated by Don Pagusara
Kung mayroon lang akong pakpak,
Lilipad ako sa himpapawid,
Aaninagin ko silang humihikbi,
Paliligayahin, aking aawitan;
Hahanapin ko ang nagdadalamhati,
Isasauli sa kanila ang dahilan.
Kung tulad ko lang ay isda,
Sisisirin ko ang dagat na maitim,
Hahanapin ko ang mutya,
Lahat ng magaganda’y aking kukunin
Dadalhin ko rito sa lupa
Upang ipalit ang bagong kalagayan.
Kung ako lang
Wawasakin ko ang mga pampang;
Ihahaplos ko ang aking lamig,
At dudurugin ko ang mga batang;
Papatagin ko ang bundok na matarik
Upang ipalt ang bagong kalagayan.
Kung ako lang
Hindi ako patatakip sa maitim na ulap
Ipababaha ko ang aking sinag,
Ibibigay ko ang lahat ng ganda
Nang lahat kayo’y masiyahan
Umaawit, maligaya, nakangiti!
At kung ako lang
O, aaliwin ko ang mga bulaklak,
Ipapalamuti ko sa lahat ng dako
Ang mga talulot na nangalaglag,
Baka sakaling may maiwang halimuyak.
Susundan ang bango ng mga makata.

Reflection:
The author uses simile to use nature as the main mover of the said poem. We all long for happiness, something that everyone wants. The idea of using nature is so good, for there are a lot of things around us that brings us happiness in one way or another but most of the time we take for granted. This certain poem also shows how beautiful nature is and the good things it brings to us. The different ways the thing around us could bring joy and happiness to us. The poem shows the author wants to give happiness to other people. If we will all have the same wanting as of the author, then maybe the world would be a better place for all of us. The way the wings would be used ti make the people who are mourning is so good, for I learned that having a companion ease loneliness, and it makes the burden lighter. For using a fish, and since most of the things here on the surface were already spoiled the thought of bringing the unspoiled goodness of the ocean, it really is a good way or living happiness. The strength and gentleness of water also shows how good it is to do some changes around us to get a better way of living. The sun, with its rays of sunlight that symbolizes a new day, a new start and something that shows us the earth beauty by giving us light. And the wind, that invisible mover, always there but we cannot see. A force that spreads the good scent of the flowers, leaving us feeling good, relaxed and happy. Happiness is always possible for there would always be a thing around us that could give it to us.

Bibigyan ko ng init ang mga nilalamig
Susunugin ang mga nakakapanglungkot
Aabuhin ang mga nakakalat na dumi.
Bibigyan ng liwanag ang himpapawid
Tutupukin ang mga nakasasakit
Magbibigay ng tuwa sa aking bawat saliw.
Hihigupin lahat ng magaganda
Ilalagay sa lupa para makapagpasaya
Aalisin ang kalat at pababanguhin.
Magbibigay kulay sa kalangitan
Magbibigay ligaya pagkatapos ng ulan
Magdudulot ng ngiti sa bawat mukha.
Magbibigay pag-asa ng bagong simula
Maghahatid ng pahinga sa mga pagod na
Magdudulot ng kakalmahan sa isipan.
